The Building of Loraloma - The Bridges
Our latest client is Areté Collective, which is developing, among others, Loraloma, a private community within the development of Thomas Ranch in Spicewood, TX. We’ve been contracted to document the build of a David McLay Kidd design, which is tucked into the Texas Hill Country about an hour from the Austin airport and runs the ridges of the Pedernales River. Kidd has pushed a number of greens to the most dramatic spots on property and in order to make the routing work, he asked ownership to approve the building of two 180-foot bridges to get access to a double green (holes 2 and 13). We were there when the crane was built and the bridges were hoisted and placed in position to connect tees to greens. Here is the feature we put together chronicling that job.
