In this Journey to Forest Dunes in Roscommon, Mich., which is 65 miles east of Traverse City, you meet Lew Thompson, the owner of the remote destination from 2011—2020. In that time, Thompson added a reversible routing by Tom Doak, a par-3 course by Keith Rhebb and Riley Johns, a putting course, lodging and other amenities to the resort. All ideal additions to what was already a popular Tom Weiskopf course, not to mention the destination’s proximity to the Au Sable River, one of the best fishing spots in the country.
