Like kids on Christmas morning, the blurry-eyed enthusiasts roll in and out of Dublin or Belfast, chase their bags around the turnstiles, toss them into busses or mini-vans and then bolt for the spiritual dunesland, also known as Lahinch, Ballybunion, Waterville, Tralee, Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Portstewart, St. Patrick’s, Ardglass, Carne, Old Head and so many more. But even the most fervent golf fanatic likes a little balance in life. An itinerary of 36-a-day, coupled with long drives to small towns on even smaller roads, isn’t for everybody. Which is why this series made Dublin and Belfast—the biggest cities on the Emerald Isle—base-camp to showcase the best that each destination has to offer, both on and off the course.
